Problem
A dining table set down in the middle of an open, brightly lit room feels incidental; once the meal ends there is nothing holding people to their seats.
Solution
Wrap the dining table in a close, sheltered mood — gather the light low over it, keep the seats near one another, and give the spot a clear boundary — so that people linger at the table once the meal itself is done.
