Problem

A plain partition wall between two rooms offers neither storage nor sound insulation; noise passes through unhindered, and closets still have to be squeezed in somewhere else.

Solution

In place of a plain partition, put deep built-in closets between the rooms, so that in one stroke they provide storage and dampen the sound that would otherwise carry from room to room.
