Context The Flow Through Rooms131 · Sequence of Sitting Spaces142 · Tapestry of Light and Dark135

Problem

A door cut into the middle of a wall breaks the wall in two and leaves no unbroken stretch for furniture, and no calm, settled area survives at the center of the room.

Solution

Place doors near the corner of a room rather than in the middle of a wall, so an unbroken length of wall remains and a quiet, undisturbed area can hold the center of the room.
