Problem
If cinemas, cafés, and bars are spread thinly across a whole city, none of them gathers enough of a crowd after dark — people feel scattered and unsafe in a nighttime city that seems equally deserted everywhere.
Solution
Concentrate cinemas, cafés, and bars at a few chosen nodes so that enough people gather there in the evening to create liveliness and safety, instead of leaving them scattered across many lonely pockets.
