Problem

Rooms that see constant use but sit in shadow feel cool and dim, while the sunniest rooms often end up as mere storage. The sun follows no floor plan of its own — left unplanned, its light falls wherever it happens to, rarely where anyone actually needs it.

Solution

Place the rooms where life actually happens toward the south, so the sun pours in throughout the day, and push the storerooms, bathrooms, and lesser spaces to the north, where a little less light will not be missed.
