Pattern 177
Vegetable Garden
Context Fruit Trees170 · Common Land67 · Half-Hidden Garden111
Problem
When no one grows anything themselves, the tie between people and the soil that feeds them quietly dissolves. Food turns into an anonymous item on a shelf, disconnected from where it came from and the effort behind it.
Solution
Give every household a patch of ground close to the house, sunny and small enough to tend daily, where they can grow at least some of the vegetables they eat.
