Problem
A path conceived only as a thin connecting line gives no reason to linger; people hurry through it without ever stopping along the way.
Solution
Give a path its own enclosed shape, with wider spots and recesses along its edges, so it becomes a place in its own right, somewhere to stop and dwell, not just a line between two points.
