Pattern 131
The Flow Through Rooms
Context Intimacy Gradient127 · Common Areas at the Heart129
Problem
When rooms are only strung along a corridor, the corridor itself becomes dead space that must be crossed without adding anything to the life of the house. Movement through the building then happens apart from the rooms people actually use.
Solution
Arrange the rooms so you can pass from one directly into the next without relying on a separate corridor, letting movement and dwelling share the same space so the whole house feels like something you flow through.
