Problem
At medium densities row houses are often unavoidable. But the usual ones are dark inside and stamped from a single mould, robbing the home of both light and identity.
Solution
Set the row houses in short, gently staggered rows; give every house direct access to its own garden and windows on two sides, so that even at high density each house keeps its light, its footing on the ground, and a face of its own.
